In recent years, more and more attention is being paid to sustainability, circularity and corporate social responsibility (CSR). Because of the growing popularity and necessity for ‘green’ initiatives, these terms are thrown around all the time. Sometimes rightly so, but also often unjustly. As a result, a new term has emerged, namely: greenwashing. This term is given to companies and organizations that pretend to be greener or more socially responsible than they actually are. Fortunately, there are also companies that are truly green and therefore deserve a place in the GreenMatter top 3 most promising green startups based in the Netherlands.

Where some people get their satisfaction from sports, others look forward to the third half. Let’s face it; after sports, there is nothing like chatting in the sunshine while enjoying a drink and/or a snack.

Besides municipalities, more and more clubs and managers of sports facilities are working on sustainability and savings. However, clubs often encounter bottlenecks and do not know exactly where to start.

With the MKI (environmental cost indicator), the environmental impact of a product or design is demonstrated. As a result, sustainability is becoming an increasingly important part of projects. To achieve a circular economy, we need to handle materials with care, among other things. Sustainable use of materials is therefore essential.

Following on from the various stands in the W&H Sports product range, there is now also a GreenMatter stand. For years, our partner W&H Sports has been engaged in the sale of various grandstands. Based on the available space and the desired number of seats, advice is given on the right type of stand.

We do not sit still. In order to have every kilogram of artificial grass fibres recycled on or around the sports facility or outside, we are constantly expanding our delivery programme.

Both clients and contractors have a joint responsibility and legal duty of care to keep the soil clean. Súdwest Fryslân municipality also assumes its responsibility in this regard.

Synthetic turf and its environmental impact are complex issues involving many different stakeholders. CE Delft, an independent research and consultancy firm specialising in developing innovative solutions to environmental problems, was commissioned by the Ministries of Infrastructure and Water Management and Public Health, Welfare and Sport to investigate these issues and issue a report on sustainability
