Circular renovation: Playground equipment in Haarlem gets a second life

Instead of discarding the playground equipment, we developed a renovation plan together with PARC. By restoring the structure and equipping it with durable GreenMatter planks, it is now ready for years of play once again. The equipment has been given a new location within the Municipality of Haarlem, where it can be enjoyed intensively once more.

This project demonstrates the power of circular renovation:

• 600 kg of worn-out artificial grass reused
• 70% cost savings for the community: Approx. €50,000 new price vs. €15,000 renovation costs
• Lifespan extended from 20 years to 30-40 years or longer
• 100% circular at the end of its lifespan
• Less waste: No unnecessary stainless steel waste, but a future-proof structure
• Successful collaboration: Alone, you can do nothing; together, you can do anything!

With this initiative, we contribute to creating a sustainable and cost-efficient public space. Less waste, lower costs, and a longer lifespan—that is the impact of our circular renovation!
