Various circular applications at Onze Gezellen in Haarlem
At Onze Gezellen in Haarlem, sport, movement and circular material use come together. Commissioned by SRO Kennemerland, several GreenMatter solutions have been implemented across the renewed site, giving materials from worn-out artificial turf fields a new purpose.
From a calisthenics area and a modular sports floor to bicycle parking facilities and site furnishings, this project shows that recycled artificial turf does not have to be limited to a single product. Instead, it can be reused in different ways within the same sports environment.
Calisthenics Monkeybar
The GreenMatter Calisthenics Monkeybar adds an additional opportunity for exercise within the sports park. The setup is suitable for strength training, street workout and functional exercises, among other activities.
The posts of the equipment are made from recycled artificial turf from worn-out sports fields. In this way, material that was once part of a sports field is given a new, active purpose within sport.
Modular sports floor
The modular sports floor forms a central area for sport and movement. At Onze Gezellen, the floor consists of a combination of dark green and orange tiles.
Recycled artificial turf is incorporated into the dark green section. By combining both colours, the floor achieves a sporty appearance that fits the design of the site, while part of the surface also contributes to the reuse of valuable raw materials.
Bicycle parking system
Circularity has also been incorporated beyond the sports area. Our bicycle parking system provides visitors with a designated place to park their bicycles and is made from components containing recycled artificial turf from worn-out fields.
The surface underneath also contributes to this circular approach. Ecoraster tiles have been installed beneath the bicycle parking system. These water-permeable tiles are made from 100% recycled plastic, 50% of which consists of recycled artificial turf.
Diamond-head posts
The GreenMatter diamond-head posts are used to structure and demarcate the site. The posts are made from recycled artificial turf, giving the material a new and long-lasting purpose in the outdoor environment.
Together with the other applications, they make circularity visible in several places throughout the sports park.
Circularity in multiple places
The project at Onze Gezellen shows how recycled artificial turf can be reused in different ways within a single sports environment. From sport and movement to bicycle parking and site furnishings, materials from worn-out artificial turf fields are given a new purpose. Move more. Waste less.
In this way, valuable raw materials remain in the cycle for longer and become part of an environment where sport and movement take centre stage.
