Municipality of Heemskerk refurbished its playground equipment!
We previously realised a great project where a playground equipment in Haarlem was renovated with planks of recycled artificial grass. A progressive choice, as this way worn-out artificial grass and the base of the equipment get a second life.
This example has now been followed in Heemskerk! The photo shows a playground equipment of which a sagging platform had been declared unsafe. So there was an immediate need to intervene. Instead of replacing the equipment completely, the municipality opted for circular renovation with GreenMatter boards. The machine was not yet written off, but it did need a facelift. Thanks to this solution, it will last for years again.
After careful inspection, the municipality of Heemskerk assessed the result so positively that they are now going to apply it to several pieces of equipment. A great example of how reuse according to the Ladder of Lansink is preferred to replacement or disposal. This way, we save raw materials and extend the lifespan of existing facilities.
