From worn-out artificial turf to bridge decking

8 September 2026

New bridge decking made from 891 kg of recycled artificial turf in Westland.

891 kg of artificial turf is given a new purpose in Westland.

For this custom project, we supplied the planks, after which Verhees carried out all machining work and added the grip strips. The result: a fully custom-made bridge deck containing no less than 891 kg of recycled artificial turf.

A great example of how materials from old artificial turf fields can return in a new, functional application in public space.

Completed in collaboration with Francken Metaal, AH Vrij, Bureau BAS and Gemeente Westland.
