What happens to worn-out artificial turf fields after they are replaced?
Commissioned by SRO Haarlem, we created a bicycle parking system during the renovation of the sports facility of hockey club Saxenburg, made entirely from recycled artificial turf. Material from discarded artificial turf fields has been reused in the infrastructure of the municipality of Haarlem.
At this location, two parking areas were deliberately chosen: one for cargo bikes and one for regular bicycles; parking space for every application.
The surface is constructed using our grass tiles and an innovative layered build-up, developed in collaboration with Arte-Nova, allowing greenery to grow here in the future as well.
This bicycle parking area also features several Woodleâ„¢ Lanterns with LED lighting and solar panels from our partner SolarWoodle: Lighting our Future! In the future, we also want to offer the Woodleâ„¢ Lantern in a GreenMatter version, made from recycled artificial turf.
The GreenMatter Solar is already available in various lengths and shows how powerful solar lighting and circular materials can go perfectly hand in hand.
If you are a municipality or sports organisation working on renovation or renewal, a circular solution is often easier than you might think.
